I'm thinking I've been wasting some of your time. I'm sorry. I just went into the preferences now that I thought of the above and saw that nothing in there was selected. =( So I selected the cpio archives as to be handled by Better Zip and now it opens in the window fine and no errors. Now it is working properly.
