No, sorry, doesn't happen here. What version of Windows do you have? What happens if you create the archive with the Finder's "Create archive" command? How large is the archive? When you say BetterZip hides the Mac files, do you switch the Show/Hide hidden files setting in BetterZip's view menu or do you check the option Remove Mac specific stuff from archives in the preferences window? If you only hid the files, try the second setting, because only that will really keep the Mac files out of the archive.

I had windows users writing to me saying the zip file was damage. So i loaded my version of Windows Media Center into my VMware and tested it for myself. It extracts ok, but for every folder in the root directory (where extracted to), there is an identical file without an extension created. I have the option in the preferences to remove mac stuff on. How do I associate "Create Archive" to BetterZip? I like to use stuffit for extraction. The main reason I purchased BetterZip was for the windows friendly zip archiving.

The Finder's Create archive command cannot be associated with BetterZip, it's just a function of the Finder.

Happens here too. Zip archive created with BetterZip. Windows Explorer archive handler shows additional file (0 bytes) for every folder in the archive.

What version of Windows do you use, the Media Center version? What happens when you try to extract the archive with WinZip, WinRar, 7-zip, or any other archiver? The problem here is that I just can't reproduce the behavior myself.

Windows XP + SP2. Media Center version - I don't know, but it doesn't matter anyway. Since Windows 2000, WIndows Explorer can do some basic zip archive handling; it can open a zip archive in a separate window and let one browse the archive like one browses directories on disk. If the zip archive is created with BetterZip (compatible one, no Mac specific stuff), Windows Explorer zip handler shows EVERY directory in the archive as a double entity: a directory itself, but also some "mistiqye" file of the same name as the directory, 0 bytes big. An attempt to extract those files ends with error message "The system cannot find the file specified".

WinZip and WinRAR don't show this strange files, which are apparently, not in the archive at all.

Hm, strange that it doesn't happen on my XP+SP2. I'll install a fresh copy and see what I can find. Thanks for the details!

Well follow the zip file below. it was created using BetterZip. Use Explorer's zip browser to view and extract it. It wont work. Using WinZip and Winrar it works flawlessly.

Windows friendly zips was the exact reason why I bought BetterZip. Hope you can get it working.

No progress with this problem so far, sorry. I couldn't even reproduce it. But it's on my list and it won't be forgotten.
