Dave, what format does this multi-volume archive have? BetterZip currently supports 7-zip (named archive.7z.001, ...) and rar archives (named archive.part001.rar, ...). What exactly happens when you try to open/extract the file?

I'm using a multipart zip file like
File.z1
File.z2
File.zip

Doesn't work. it crashes

BetterZip can't handle multi-part zip files at the moment. It has multi-volume support only for the RAR and 7-zip formats. But then it shouldn't crash at least. I'll look into this.

Update: I just found the bug, a fixed version will be released early next week.

I can't extract a password encrypted file coz it keeps saying i must start extracting from previos volume to unpack.It's a Rar file

What's the exact name of the file? If it ends with something like .part003.rar check whether you have the other parts (.part001.rar, .part002.rar) in the same directory. If it ends with something like .r07 check whether the other parts (.rar, .r00, r01, ...) are in the same directory.

Can I extract the contents of a single .r00 file? I have the first and last file of a movie which is splitted into 55 parts.I can't download all files becuse i have a dial-up connetion.And it will take weeks to download the whole movie.Is there a way I can extract the first part(.r00 file)?

No sorry, that's impossible. It's not a limitation of BetterZip, but a property of the rar format.

I've found that direct extraction on a part other than part 1 (in a multi-part rar file, part001.rar etc) does not work, saying the password may be incorrect. This happens when part 1 *is* present. If part 1 is not present it seems to think the archive is empty.

Unrelated issue: The Reveal in Finder button in the cleanup dialog doesn't seem to do anything.

Gannet: Thanks for reporting the issue. I will fix it with the next update.
To reveal a temp folder, select the one you'd like to see in the list before clicking the button. There should probably be some visual cue what the problem is here - I'll think about it.

Just a thought about that reveal thing: How about disabling the buttons when nothing is selected? It should prompt fools like me to have another think ;-)

i have downloaded a movie splitted into 7 parts.....bt the 7th part is missin and winrar is not extractin saying that part7 is need.is there eny way i can extract it?plz help
