This sounds like a practical feature. I just have to think about a way to put it in a function that is useful for many users. Or maybe it is already sufficient as you suggest. Hmmm ... well ... why not?

Perhaps the option can be implemented with the following global perferences:

* checkbox "always hide all folders in Flat view"
...* checkbox "always hide empty folders in Flat view" (indented)

* checkbox "always hide empty folders in Outline view"

That would be just about ideal.

Even better would be toolbar buttons to temporarily toggle between show-all/hide-empty/hide-all folders in whatever view is active (with hide all only for Flat view), in additional to the global preferences above.

I frequently deal with files created under Windows using batch files and the command-line version of PKZip. One type of these archives I need to use a lot are archives of all files under a directory newer than a certain date. These archives contain HUNDREDS of empty directories and often just a handful of files (usually nested deeply within the directory hierarchy). Dealing with these archives in BetterZip is very difficult, so much so that I installed WinZip under CrossOver/Mac and have been using it instead of BetterZip. I'd prefer to use BetterZip, but need this feature.

Is there any chance it will be implemented? If so, any idea of the time frame?
