Searching Inside an Archive

Once an archive is open in BetterZip you can search its contents from the toolbar’s search field. Choose Edit > Find Items in Archive or press ⌘F to put the cursor there directly.

How it works

Searching is a live filter on filenames: as you type, items whose name does not contain your search term are hidden. Folders that contain at least one matching item stay visible so you can drill into them. Clear the field to restore the full listing.

The match is a case-insensitive substring search against each item’s name. For example, foo matches Foo.txt and my-foo-bar.png.

Searching the favorites sidebar

The toolbar’s search field filters the currently open archive. To search the list of archives in the favorites sidebar, use the search field below the sidebar – or choose Edit > Find Archives in Sidebar (⌥⌘F).
